Taking pride of place is Cesel, the tableware collection designed by Patricia Urquiola: a jug, tumblers, flutes and a tray feature substantial, highly textural surfaces carved with irregular reliefs that catch the light and multiply reflections. The design recalls the rich feel of hand-worked glass, yet translates it through Kartell’s signature lightness and material research. Crafted from foodgrade recycled SMMA, derived largely from the depolymerisation of plastic waste sourced from different industrial supply chains, Cesel retains a brilliance, transparency and performance on a par with virgin material. Crystal, sky blue, green and amber hues intensify the game of textures, making for a sophisticated yet relaxed table setting where every piece shifts with the light.
